We are hosting our first stable visit of the season at Brian Ellison’s stables in Norton, Malton on Sunday 21^st March. This open day is available to everybody, and we hope to see plenty of you there. We are hoping to start showing people around the yard at 11am, so if you can try and get there at about 10.30am then we won’t start without anyone. All club horses will be on show as well and Brian will give us a guided tour of the rest of his string. Having run well all season, it was decided to once again aim high with our most improved horse this year Dontpaytheferryman. So we are planning to run in the £70,000 Imperial Cup at Sandown on the 13^th March. Usually a fiercely run handicap with plenty of top opposition it will be a tough task, but there aren’t many races with this amount of prize money on offer.  Therefore between myself and the members who own shares in ‘Ferryman’ we felt it was worth trying and even if he doesn’t win, we know the horse will give it his best shot.

Although not everyone’s cup of tea, the early All-Weather season has given us plenty of chances to see our colours carried to glory and so far we have seen 6 victories in 2010, all at Southwell. Although it can be a bit cold through the winter months, there’s nothing like a winner to warm the spirits as our members who joined Mehendi found on New Year’s Day. With 10 winners on the flat in the whole of 2009, we are hoping that 2010 see’s Koo’s Racing Club emerge even more and we hope we can hit the 20 winner mark this year and set ourselves up as one of the best Racing Club and syndicates in the UK.

It’s taken a while but Dunaskin finally got his head in front at Southwell, making it his first victory on the All-Weather on his 16^th attempt. It was also his first win on the flat in over 3 years, however he is entered again this coming Tuesday so hopefully it isn’t such a long wait for his next win.
